1. With the new framework issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for non-banking finance companies (NBFCs), their gross NPAs or bad loans level is likely to be in the range of 5.8-6.1 per cent of their advances by 2018, credit rating agency Care has said in a report.

गैर-बैंकिंग वित्तीय कंपनियों (एनबीएफसी) के लिए रिजर्व बैंक द्वारा नयी रूपरेखा जारी किए जाने के साथ इन कंपनियों का सकल एनपीए या डूबा रिण 2018 तक उनके कुल अग्रिम का 5.8 से 6.1 प्रतिशत तक पहुंचने का अनुमान है।

2. Country’s largest private sector lender ICICI Bank has announced a hike in its ATM charges for saving account holders from January 1 next year. Under the new method, the number of free transactions in a month is fixed at five using own ATMs, while it has been capped at three for other banks’ machines.

देश के सबसे बड़े निजी बैंक आईसीआईसीआई बैंक ने अगले साल एक जनवरी से बचत खाता धारकों के लिए अपने एटीएम शुल्क में बढ़ोतरी की घोषणा की है। नयी नियम के तहत बैंक के एटीएम का महीने में पांच बार मुफ्त उपयोग किया जा सकता है जबकि अन्य बैंकों के एटीएम का तीन बार मुफ्त उपयोग किया जा सकेगा।

3. Indian Blind Cricket team on 7 December 2014 won the fourth edition of the Blind Cricket World Cup (BCWC) 2014 by defeating defending champions Pakistan. The captain of the Indian team was Shekar Naik. In the final held at Wally Wilson Cricket Ground in Cape Town, South Africa, Pakistan batting first scored 389 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 40 over. Chasing a tough target, India managed to reach the target in 39.4 over, losing 5 wickets in the process. In the semi-finals, Pakistan had defeated England, while India had ousted Sri Lanka.

4. A Boeing aircraft has completed the world’s first flight using ‘green diesel’, a sustainable biofuel made from vegetable oils, waste cooking oil and animal fats. The company powered its ecoDemonstrator 787 flight test airplane on December 2 with a blend of 15% green diesel and 85% petroleum jet fuel in the left engine.

बोइंग के एक विमान ने दुनिया में पहली बार ‘ग्रीन डीजल’ का इस्तेमाल कर उड़ान भरी है। यह ऐसा ईंधन है जो वनस्पति तेल, वेस्ट कुकिंग ऑयल और जानवरों की चर्बी से बना है। कंपनी ने 2 दिसंबर को अपनी 787 फ्लाइट में इसका इस्तेमाल किया, जिसके एयरक्राफ्ट के बाएं इंजन में 15 पर्सेंट ग्रीन डीजल और 85 फीसदी पेट्रोलियम जेट फ्यूल का मिश्रण भरा गया था।

5. Almost a quarter of purified drinking water tested by China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) was substandard, with many products found to contain excessive levels of bacteria. The findings underline the challenge to controlling supply chains in China, after a slew of food safety scares over the past year from donkey meat products contaminated with fox to heavy metals found in infant food.

7. City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco), a Maharashtra government undertaking, has crossed yet another hurdle with the Union ministry of civil aviation clearing its plea for ‘share till’ approach for the Navi Mumbai international airport, on the lines of Delhi and Mumbai airports. This was one of the issues about which bidders had sought clarification from Cidco.

9. Submission of Aadhaar card details by subscribers is not mandatory for any provident fund transaction. Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said in written reply to Lok Sabha on a query whether the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has made it mandatory to submit Aadhaar Card details of employees for any PF transition.The minister said that Aadhaar card is issued to resident of India.

10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialist Mukesh Ambani feature amongst the most searched personalities online this year, according to search engine Yahoo. According to the seventh edition of Yahoo India’s ‘Year in Review’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the list of ‘High and Mighty? the Political Top 10’ in 2014, followed by his aides Arun Jaitley (Finance and I&B Minister) and BJP President Amit Shah.

1. The first Arabic translation of Indian Constitution has been launched amid great appreciations for its drafting and sustaining institutions of democracy. The launch was organised in the Secretariat of the League of Arab States by the embassy of India in collaboration with the League of Arab States. Secretary General of the Arab League, Nabil El Araby launched the Constitution along with Secretary (East) ambassador Anil Wadhwa from the Ministry of External Affairs.

3. Amos Meindi of Kenya won 29th Pune International full Marathon in Men’s category. He finished the race by completing 41.175 km in 2 hours 18 minutes and 36 seconds. Nancy Wambua of Kenya won the half marathon in Women category in 71 minutes and 55 seconds.

4. Veteran carnatic vocalist Sangita Kalanidhi Nedunuri Krishnamurthy passed away in Visakhapatnam. He was 87. He was undergoing treatment for lung cancer.

कर्नाटक संगीत के महान शास्त्रीय गायक संगीत कलानिधि निदुनुरी कृष्णमूर्ति का विशाखापत्तनम में निधन हो गया। वह 87 वर्ष के थे। उनका फेफड़ों के कैंसर का इलाज चल रहा था।

5. Andhra Pradesh Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore for the development of its new capital that is set to come up near Vijayawada region. The MoU was signed by International Enterprise Singapore CEO Teo Eng Cheong and the Infrastructure Corporation of the Andhra Pradesh representative Sambasiva Rao.

6. According to S&P India has emerged as the brightest spot in the Asia Pacific region as reform has picked up pace in the country in recent months, a top credit rating agency has said. India has been the region’s brightest spot since our last report. After a modest beginning, Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi’s government has picked up the pace of reform, eliminating the diesel subsidy in early November, liberalising foreign investment into the insurance sector, and curbing discretionary government spending for the second half of the current fiscal year.

7. Ralph H. Bear, who developed the first home video game system, died at the age of 92.

8. China launched a CBERS-4 earth-resource satellite from its Taiyuan launch centre in Shanxi province atop a Long March-4B rocket. CBERS-4 is one of the satellites of the Chinese-Brazilian Earth Resource Satellite (CBERS) programme which began in 1988. And it was the 200th flight for the Long March rocket family. It has been developed jointly by China and Brazil.

1. In a landmark decision by the Central government, the Home Ministry has informed Parliament that attempt to suicide will no longer be treated as a criminal offence. The Home Ministry informed Parliament that the government has decided to delete section 309 of the Indian Penal Code which criminalises attempt to suicide. The Centre also said that 18 states and four union territories have supported deleting Sec 309.

आत्महत्या की कोशिश को अब अपराध नहीं माना जाएगा। केंद्र सरकार ने आत्महत्या की कोशिश से जुड़ी धारा 309 को भारतीय दंड संहिता से हटाने का निर्णय लिया है। राज्यसभा में गृह राज्यमंत्री हरिभाई चौधरी एक प्रश्न के लिखित जवाब में बताया कि विधि आयोग ने धारा 309 को हटाने की सिफारिश की थी। उन्होंने बताया कि विधि आयोग की इस सिफारिश के बाद इस विषय (धारा 309) पर राज्य और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों से राय मांगी गई थी।

3. The world’s first handcrafted herbal Holy Quran was unveiled in Dubai. It is made from about 200 medicinal plants. The Quran has been made by the Islamic arts and calligraphy company Heddem Arts and has been crafted over 23 years from 1957 to 1979 by Turkish Unani Doctor Hamdi Taher.

4. Pakistan is placed eighth in the list of the most dangerous countries in the world which is led by Iraq, according to a US-based intelligence think tank. Afghanistan, the only other South Asian country in the list, is placed fourth in the Country Threat Index (CTI) compiled by IntelCenter, a Washington-based company working for intelligence agencies.

5. Indian economy is expected to pick up pace in 2015 and grow in the range of 5 to 6 per cent, helped by strong domestic demand, rating agency Moody’s said. “India will have stronger GDP growth in 2015, which we forecast at 5-6 per cent, up from around 5 per cent in 2014,” Moody’s said in a report titled 2015 Outlook-Global Credit Conditions.

6. India ranks 11th in Asia and Pacific region and 65th amongst 140 countries in tourism competitiveness, as per the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) 2013 of the World Economic Forum.

7. The State Bank of India (SBI) launched two indices namely the SBI Monthly Composite Index and the SBI Yearly Composite Index. These indices will primarily track manufacturing and services activity to determine contraction and expansion of the Indian economy.

8. The United States senate confirmed, by a voice vote, the nomination of Richard Rahul Verma as the next US ambassador to India. Mr. Verma, 46, is the first Indian-American to be the US ambassador to India and is expected to be sworn in shortly.

9. Veteran journalist Piratla Venkateswarlu passed away in Narayanaguda following a brief illness. He was 74. Piratla was unwell due to diabetes-related nervous complications.

वयोवृद्ध पत्रकार पिरातला वेंकटेस्वरलु का 74 वर्ष की आयु में नारायनगुड़ा में निधन हो गया। पिरातला मधुमेह की वजह से अस्वस्थ थे।

10. An advanced version of the indigenously developed Pinaka Mark-II rocket was successfully test fired from a defence base in Odisha using a multi-barrel launcher. The tests were conducted from the Proof & Experimental Establishment (PXE) at Chandipur firing range No 2, about 15-km from Balasore.

1. Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafzai and Indian child rights campaigner Kailash Satyarthi received the Nobel Peace Prize awards in Oslo. Ms Yousafzai and Mr Satyarthi received their awards from the chairman of the Norwegian Nobel committee, in the presence of King Harald V of Norway.

भारत के चाइल्ड राइट्स एक्टिविस्ट कैलाश सत्यार्थी और पाकिस्तान में शिक्षा की दिशा में काम करने वाली मलाला यूसुफजई को नोबल पुरस्कार दिया गया। यह कार्यक्रम नॉर्वे के शहर ओस्लो में आयोजित किया गया। सुश्री यूसुफजई और श्री सत्यार्थी ने नॉर्वे के किंग हेराल्ड V की उपस्थिति में, नार्वे नोबेल समिति के अध्यक्ष से पुरस्कार प्राप्त किए।

2. Bhutan became the 181st member of Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). MIGA is the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group. Bhutan has fulfilled all of its membership requirements to become the member of MIGA.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी टाइम मैगजीन के ‘पर्सन ऑफ द ईयर’ खिताब के लिए चुने गए आठ आखिरी दावेदारों की सूची में जगह नहीं बना सके, वहीं टाइम ‘पर्सन ऑफ द ईयर’ के लिए रीडर पोल में मोदी को सबसे ज्यादा वोट मिले हैं। इस पोल में करीब 50 लाख लोगों ने वोट डाले और मोदी को सबसे ज्यादा 16 फीसदी से अधिक वोट मिले। इस तरह मोदी इस साल टाइम ‘पर्सन ऑफ द ईयर’ के रीडर पोल के विजेता रहे हैं।

4. German Chancellor Angela Merkel was re-elected unopposed as head of Conservative Christian Democrats party. She was elected as the head of the party for the eighth time by winning 96.7 percent of delegates’ votes. She has been the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) since 2000 and the Chancellor of Germany since 2005. She is the first woman to hold either office.

The government allowed public sector banks to raise up to Rs. 1.60 lakh crore from markets by diluting government holding to 52 percent in phases so as to meet Basel III capital adequacy norms. “The quantum of capital support needed by banks is huge, which cannot be funded by budgetary support alone,” an official statement said, detailing the decision taken by the cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to allow PSBs to raise equity capital from market.

6. According to global wealth intelligence and prospecting company Wealth-X, Warren Buffett topped the list of the 10 biggest single charitable donors of 2014. Warren Buffett has made the largest philanthropic donation of this year by giving $2.1 billion to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in the form of 16.6 million shares of his company, Berkshire Hathaway.

वैश्विक संपत्ति का आकलन करने वाली कंपनी वेल्थ-एक्स के अनुसार वारेन बफे 2014 में 10 सबसे बड़े दानदाताओं की सूची में शीर्ष पर रहे। अरबपति निवेशक वारेन बफे ने इस साल परोपकार के लिए सबसे अधिक 2.1 अरब डॉलर का योगदान किया। उन्होंने यह दान बिल एंड मेलिंडा गेट्स फाउंडेशन को अपनी कंपनी बर्कशायर हैथवे के 1.66 करोड़ शेयर के तौर पर दिया।

7. Boxer Sarita Devi finally received her Asian Games bronze medal which she had refused at the victory ceremony in Incheon under controversial circumstances. The Secretary General, Indian Olympic Association Rajeev Mehta presented the medal to the Manipuri boxer at the IOA Headquarters. L Sarita Devi was bronze medal winner in boxing 60kg weight category in 17th Asian Games 2014 held in Incheon, Korea received her medal in New Delhi.

9. The global economy will grow by more than three per cent in 2015 and 2016, the United Nations predicted in its annual economic report. The UN is forecasting 3.1 per cent economic growth in 2015 and 3.3 per cent growth in 2016.

10. State-run power equipment maker BHEL has commissioned a hydro power project in African country Rwanda. BHEL has commissioned the 28 MW Nyaborongo Hydro Electric Project (2×14 MW) in Rwanda. With the commissioning of this plant, the installed generation capacity of Rwanda has gone up by 24 per cent from 119 MW to 147 MW. Nyaborongo Hydro Electric project is owned by the Government of Rwanda and has been financed under the Government of India’s Line of Credit.

बिजली उपकरण बनाने वाली सरकारी कंपनी भेल ने अफ्रीकी देश रवांडा में पनबिजली संयंत्र शुरू किया है। भेल ने रवांडा में 28 मेगावाट की न्याबोरोंगो पनबिजली परियोजना शुरू की है। इस संयंत्र को शुरू करने के साथ रवांडा में उत्पादन क्षमता 24 प्रतिशत बढ़कर 119 मेगावाट से 147 मेगावाट हो गई। न्याबोरोंगो पनबिजी परियोजना रवांडा सरकार के स्वामित्व वाली है और इसका वित्तपोषण भारत की रिण सुविधा के तहत किया गया।

Time magazine has named its “Person of the Year 2014″ the health care workers treating the Ebola epidemic, which has killed more than 6,300 people worldwide.The magazine announced on 10 December that it had chosen to honour doctors, nurses and others fighting the spread of the virus through tireless acts of courage and mercy.

Randhir Singh Named Honorary Member Of International Olympic Committee

Former Indian Olympic Association (IOA) secretary general Randhir Singh was appointed as an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Randhir, who served as the secretary general of the IOA from 1987 to 2012, was named for the prestigious honorary membership of the IOC after serving as a full member of the world body from India from 2001 to 2014. Randhir Singh is the second Indian to become an honorary member of the IOC after Ashwini Kumar. Ashwini Kumar was also given the membership after serving as full IOC member from India.

Warren Buffett Tops List Of Biggest Charitable Donations In 2014

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett is this year’s most generous man, according to new research from Wealth-X, a research firm focusing on high net worth individuals. His $2.1bn (£1.3bn) donation to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in the form of 16.6m shares of his company Berkshire Hathaway, propelled Buffett to the top spot. Six of the top 10 donations went to educational institutions, two were given to health causes and another two went to philanthropic foundations.

International Mountain Day was Observed On 11 December

International Mountain Day was Observed across the world on 11 December 2014. The theme of the International Mountain Day – 2014 is “Mountain Farming”. The day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2003, as they encouraged the international community to organize events at all levels on that day to highlight the importance of sustainable mountain development. The day is observed every year with a different theme relevant to sustainable mountain development. FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) is the U.N. Organization mandated to lead observance of International Mountain Day. The days aim is it to raise awareness about the relevance of mountain forests and the role they play within a Green Economy as well as in climate change adaptation measures.

Government launches new Indian trade portal

Government has launched new user-friendly Indian Trade Portal- www.indiantradeportal.in.  It was inaugurated by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) Commerce and Industry Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman at a function held in New Delhi.

It is an initiative of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry. The portal has been developed and maintained by Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).

• Objective: This portal aims to provide information related to the Most-Favoured Nation (MFN) and preferential tariffs, rules of origin, technical barriers to trade faced by Indian exporters and ensure better utilisation of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) at single point.
• It will also facilitate the Indian industry’s integration into the regional value chain.
• It will provide important data for use of exporters and importers at one place, in a user friendly manner. Thus contributing to ease of doing business for trade and industry.
