Google adds South Indian language Malayalam to translation tool

Washington: Google has added support for ten new languages, including Malayalam- a South Indian language, to its translation tool.

The addition of Malayalam, one of India's six classical languages, is an attempt by the search engine to reach out to a population of 38 million Keralites.

According to Tech Crunch, the move is significant because it ties into Google's efforts to get more Indian users onto its services.

Chichewa (from Malawi)

Malagasy (from Madagascar)

Sesotho (from Lesotho)

Malayalam (from India)

Myanmar (from Myanmar)

Sinhala (from Sri Lanka)

Sundanese (from Java in Indonesia)

Kazakh (from Kazakhstan)

Tajik (from Tajikistan)
