Yahoo 2014 Year In Review: Ebola beats celebrities to be the most searched topic

New Delhi: Yahoo on Thursday announced the 2014 Year In Review, and a look at it shows that the deadly disease Ebola is amongst the most searched topics, leaving behind iPhone 6 and Minecraft, a popular video game by Microsoft.

The 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa is the worst on record since its first outbreak in 1976.

There have been nearly 6,000 deaths from the disease in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea since the latest outbreak began, according to the World Health Organization.

By far, there are no proven vaccines or cure available for Ebola.

According to reports, Yahoo revealing its Year in Review for 2014, where the deadly disease emerged as the most-searched item of the year, while Minecraft, a popular video game whose developer was bought by Microsoft.

Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lawrence, Kaley Cuoco, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Aniston too made it in the top list with Disney's 'Frozen' ranked at No 7 and Apple's iPhone 6 at the No 9 spot.

The company said that iPhone had been among the most-searched terms on Yahoo in four of the past five years.
